The sea has always meant discovery, adventure and new life.
The Adriatic sea is part of the cultural identity of all people who live on the beautiful coasts of the Abruzzo Region of Italy. The Adriatic means economic life, as well. Fishing was and is an important industry for our Region. Along all the Abruzzo coast – particulary in the Province of Chieti – people can admire “lu travocche” (term used in the Abruzzo dialect).
What is “lu travocche”?
The trabocco (or bilancia) is an old wooden fishing machine. Nowadays it is not used anymore to catch fish but for turistic purposes. Many of these structures are now fine restaurants…dining on a trabocco is an amazing experience I advise everyone to try!
The sea has been an essential element not only for fishermen and explorers but for artists. The sea and the trabocco have inspired the Amato Bontempo‘s hand whose strong brush strokes tell us the beauty of Abruzzo. The Amato Bontempo‘s hand tells us the story of all people who live along the coast of Abruzzo and has the sea in their heart.
When summer starts along our Coast, the colours of Nature are brilliant. The decorative wall plates “Mare&Trabocchi“ represent the balance Nature and Humankind create here in our Region. The artist Amato Bontempo gives us the deep union between the sea and sky.
